There are many styles of garden to create and as many ways as there are gardeners to create a garden.
I start with three basic elements
1.Soil and site dynamics
2.Style of architecture whether it be home or office
3.Clients input
out of this and several conversations i develop the direction of the project whether it be solving a problem or adding an edible landscape to a backyard.
After the basics I need to do some sketching and estimating, in Birmingham we have a great growing season and mild winters. I strive to create low maintenance landscapes that are water wise functional and aesthetic. Hardscaping is always an otpion and creates a dramatic contrast with the softer lines of the plantings.
